Ok, I saw this movie called Gothika. Even the name sounds scary. Too bad the movie isn't.
Well, you can pretty much sum up the movie by taking the plot of "The Ring" and then combining it with predictability to the MAXXX (three X's added for effect) and then adding in subtle elements of satanity (is that a word?), rape, ghosts and other such things.
In a word: Sucks.
Seriously, this movie was so predictable any amount of fear it could instill in you is instantly whisked away as soon as you realize that, yes, when she looks around that corner a ghost will be there. Also, throughout the movie I was trying to give the plot chance to recover itself. You know, dig itself out of the large hole it had been creating since the start. Nah, it doesn't get better. A downward spiral from the opening credits.
One has to wonder, how did an actress like Halle Berry get herself in a movie like this one, anyway? Halley Berry: "Save me!"
Well, to the movie's credit, the main ideas weren't that bad, it's just that the movie is way to predictable (as I've already stated). The music is a dead giveaway, and the fluorescent lights have this tendency to flicker on and off whenever weird stuff is about to begin.
On a SoySauce scale of one to ten, one being the lowest and ten being the highest, I give this movie a 4.
