Confederation Government Embassy

The Confederate government is the "traditional" human government, based on Earth. The Confederation was first formed to combat the Alien threat. Once it managed to beat back this threat, it turned its sights toward the future, and continued human expansion in space.

However, it soon became common practice to exploit the outter worlds, called the Fringe Worlds, for the inner worlds, called the Core Worlds, which included Earth. Resistence to the Confederate presence in what were perfectly peaceful systems soon escilated to violence as colonists fought for their freedom. For more information about their fight for freedom, go to the Rebel Embassy.

Strengths:

Piracy is very low in Confederate systems. Confederate ships are constantly patrolling the systems, making it the only secure space in the game.

As a gift in one of the mission strings, you get the Particle Beam, which is a powerful blue beam weapon. Unfortunatly, it drains fuel rather quickly.

The Confederate fleet all have a very standardized, uniform look about them. This is a nice touch, in my opinion, but not something that matters that much.

Weaknesses:

You can ONLY get the Particle Beam, as opposed to the Rebel Tractor Beam and Cloaking Device.

The Confederates are basically, in my opinion, the bad guys of the game. They are opressive, mean, and controlling. Different strokes for different folks, though.

Confederate ships also tend to be less powerful than their Rebel counterparts (ie: Frigate and Destroyer), with the exception of the Patrol Ship and Manta comparison. A Rebel Destroyer can routinely destroy a Confed Frigate. Rebel and Confed Cruisers, however, are an almost even matchup; it a one-on-one fight (fighters included), the Rebels would probably lose, however.

Confederate ships are much more expensive. A Frigate is 5 million credits, as opposed to the Destroyer's price tag of 2.8 million.

How To Be a Confederate

Being a Confederate can be one of the most frustrating jobs as an EV pilot, because suddenly not everyone likes you anymore. It is also ultimately what you will probably end up as, because you'll find the firepower you can receive will overshadow the other cons.

  • Decide whose ally you want to be.
The worst thing to do at this point is to attack both the Rebels and the Confeds and end up being a Public Enemy everywhere!

  • Build up your reputation.
To get access to Government ships, you need to complete certain missions, and most of these missions require that you have a decent Combat Rating.

  • Do nice things for the Government.
Killing Pirates, Rush Deliveries, Emergency Medical Supplies and the like.

Make sure you have plenty of money. You'll need it for the better ships of the Governments (of course by this point, you should be loaded).

Usually the Government you are working for will tell you what you have to do, so I am just listing the ships here:

Patrol Ship

Confed P-361 Patrol Ship

Gunboat

Confed G-564 Missile Gunboat

Frigate

Confederate FF-4237 Frigate

C. Cruiser

Confederate CR-1095 Cruiser
