Survival Guide

Outfits: Vell-os

Vell-os "outfits" fit into three categories: Weapons, Senses, and Abilities. Weapons are pretty obvious: the weapons that the 3 Vell-os ship classes use. Senses are rather simple and straight-forward. Abilities are those things you get to be able to do just because you're a Vell-os. Oh goody.

Flower of Spring
Flower of Spring back to top
The Vell-os name their weapons after the telepathic weaves used to turn their telepathic abilities into physical energy. Thus this weapon is called the Flower Of Spring because the weave works from the ground up and includes patterns much like that of a flower.

EVula's Notes
The most basic of the Vell-os weapons, it's not as dangerous as the others. However, it's STILL damn powerful if you have three (there are three Darts "on" every Javilin) firing at you. In a short time, you'll be very dead.

Summer Bloom
Summer Bloom back to top
The Summer Bloom is the magenta beam that is incorporated into the form of the Arrow. A T2 Vell-os can maintain power to this weapon almost indefinitely, and the stopping power of a Bloom is stunning for such a small beam.

EVula's Notes
Second in the list of Vell-os weapons, the Summer Bloom is, like it's brethren, nothing to laugh at. Unlike the Flower of Spring, the Summer Bloom is a turret of a sorts, so the ship doesn't need to be pointing at you to kill you. Lucky you. :P

Autumn Petal
Autumn Petal back to top
This instrument of destruction is an integral part of the makeup of a Vell-os Javelin. The color of early autumn kirastei petals on Vell-os worlds, the Autumn Petal has an excellent sustained fire rate, and long range. Only T1's have been known to be able to create the weave required for this weapon.

EVula's Notes
The Autumn Petal is a very powerful weapon, and is the primary armament on the Javelin. I would stay out of it's relatively long range, as a few seconds with this beam and you'll be eating rations in your escape pod.

Winter Tempest
Winter Tempest back to top
Winter Tempest is a name spoken in dark corners by the Vell-os people. The storm-colored arc of light has only once been used in anger. Even then it took a T1 working at focusing the power of twenty T2's to get it to work. It has been theorized by Vell-os scientists that a T0 would have the potential to create this beam by himself.

EVula's Notes
The most powerful weapon in the game, the much-feared Winter Tempest cuts straigh through shields and goes right for the armor. It consumes energy quickly, but is definetely worth it. You get it towards the end of the Vell-os string.

Physical Sense

No desc req'd
Mass: 0 Max. Quantity: 1 Cost: 0
EVula's Notes
This ability allows you to tell how big stuff is on your sensor screen, since you can't purchase a gravametric sensor once you're in a Vell-os "ship".

Hostility Sense

Mass: 0 Max. Quantity: 1 Cost: 0
EVula's Notes
No description given, but I'll tell you what it is anyway: it's the Vell-os equivalent to the IFF decoder.

Area Map
Topographic Sense back to top
With your telepathic senses, you can reach out and observe the physical nature of the universe around. The further out you get, the harder it is to make out distinctive features, but it does allow you a greater understanding of the local area of the universe than any human map.
Mass: 0 Max. Quantity: 999 Cost: 0
EVula's Notes
A great little ability, you will always be able to tell what systems around you are. It's a constant map, just doesn't have the range. Oh well, it still rocks. Not like it matters anyway, since you can't get rid of it. ;)

Create Dart
Create Dart back to top
As your telepathic power swells, you learn a great deal more about how to project your consciousness out upon the universe. Now, if you choose to prepare yourself correctly by selecting this ability, you can project small parts of your mind into Dart-like receptacles which will act as you command them.
Mass: 0 Max. Quantity: 1 Cost: 0
EVula's Notes
Darts can be very handy as fighters. Insanely fast, and very deadly, a handful can take care of your enemies in a short amount of time.

Distract Sensors
Distract Sensors back to top
As your abilities grow, you are soon able to discern the workings of guided missiles from background space. It is a simple matter of twisting the surrounding space to confuse them.
Mass: 0 Max. Quantity: 1 Cost: 0
EVula's Notes
Pretty straight forward. As long as you don't fly directly into their path, you have a pretty good chance of missiles avoiding you. Very helpful, since you don't have to worry about point defense weapons or other jammers (that can take up weapons space, should you get a Kestrel).
